Ultrasound

Monday, May 23 Jonny and I took a day off work and went to the Imaging Center where my Dr. sent us for the ultrasound. I had my bladder full and was both nervous but more bursting with anticipation. Would it be a boy or a girl? Is our baby healthy? We were super excited and loved every minute of the appointment. The women who did our ultrasound loves her job and made the whole experience a wonderful and memorable time. She pointed out that all three tubes were flowing in the umbilical cord. Sorry to those who know all the correct medical terms, I don't remember. Anyway, we then were asked if we wanted to know the sex of our baby. We answered with a clear and almost in unison, "YES!". After some measurements she then went on to get the baby to move around so she could find out the gender. The ultrasound showed that we are going to have a boy! Then there were some reassuring observations made like the baby had two hands and five fingers on each hand and plenty of room to move them around often, a four chamber heart with all the right "plumbing", and a great brain stem. My bladder was very full by that point! While I emptied my bladder Jonny got to see her play around with the machine and the 4D images. More measurements were taken and only positive reports were given enthusiastically. We also heard often what a beautiful baby we will have soon. October seems far away though but we would rather wait and let him grow and develop. She sent us home with a CD and a DVD of our ultrasound. Then we went to Jonny's Dad's office at St. Marks and told him the exciting news before going to Jonny's parent's house to publish the news on facebook. We also called and texted family to announce the exciting news. It's a boy! :D
